Ready to win? Our National JD Volunteer Teams help run the tools and create the systems for our grassroots campaigns on the ground. These online volunteer teams enable anyone to make a difference no matter your location or ability.
Together, we can build mass organizing systems that will empower volunteers and leaders all the while bringing power back into the hands of the people. This form will gather your basic information, help you select one of our teams, and connect you with your team leader(s) after you submit.
Let's change the world together.

Justice Dialer Managers and Monitors - The Justice Dialer team is the backbone of our phonebank operations. Every number that goes through our dialer system requires a person to click a button and send the number to a caller, this is what keeps our dialer legal and allows us to call cell phone numbers at speed. This team is made up of Monitors who click the numbers and Managers who help manage the backend of the dialer (speed of calls, list loading, troubleshooting) to be sure that wait times are low and contact rates are high. This is an easy team to get started with (monitoring is watching and clicking on button) but is extremely important since without this team, none of our calls would be placed and no voters would hear about our amazing candidates.
Texting - The Texting team sends text messages and maintains the texting platform. We have two types of volunteers: We need volunteers who will send texts and also a team who will help set up texting assignments. We are able to assist with turnout for all of our events by texting existing supporters of our candidates along with people from the voter file to recruit people to events, get more volunteers and turn out voters through texting! You can remotely text from home using a web-based app called Relay to send texts from a computer or phone without using your texting plan or your personal phone number.
Support Team (Help desk and Live chat) - The Support team responds to all emails sent to Justice Democrats and all chats sent through our live chat widget. We connect supporters, volunteers, event hosts, and others with resources they need to help spread JD’s message. We answer questions that range from “How do I make a contribution?” to “Will JD run a candidate in my district?” and so much more. Our team is JD's live support for volunteer events happening on the ground, phone bankers making calls, and anyone getting involved, and there is nothing more reassuring to a person volunteering remotely than having a live point of contact! You will be operating out of the Helpdesk program, Zendesk, which is web-based and given an all-in-one resource document with updates, FAQ’s, and links/answers on hand to give to the questions you will be receiving.
Technology - The Technology team is responsible for building, testing, and maintaining the core infrastructure that powers the rest of the distributed and field team and organization. We need volunteer developers with experience in any of the following: NodeJS, React, Javascript, and/or Elixir. Our projects include an Event Management web app, a volunteer portal for finding events and joining teams, a mass-texting tool, a dashboard and result syncing system for our dialer, and the Justice Democrats website and several candidate sites. All of our code is open-source and GPL/MIT licensed (depending on the project), and we collaborate on tools with other progressive organizations. Check out our Github for a sneak peek!
